Fourth Gold Glove of His Career
Walker won three straight Gold Gloves with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2022 to 2024, his final three seasons in Arizona, before signing a three-year, $60 million deal with Houston. He is the 15th player to win at least four Gold Gloves at first base, according to the Houston Chronicle.

How Gold Glove Winners Are Picked
Each team’s manager and up to six coaches vote, and they cannot vote for their own players. The SABR Defensive Index makes up about 25 percent of the selection. The latest SABR index ranked Walker second among AL first basemen at 4.5, just behind Guerrero’s 4.6, according to the Chronicle.
Cam Smith Also a Finalist
Right fielder Cam Smith was the only other Astros Gold Glove finalist this year. It was his second straight season as a finalist.
What’s Next for Walker
Walker enters the final year of his contract in 2027, a season in which he turns 36 in March. The club is also coming off a front-office change, after the Astros hired Randy Flores as general manager.
